Snow Drops

Snow Drops, originally uploaded by richiesoft.

Spotted these snow drops yesterday morning. Are they early or is it normal for this time of year? They are such dainty little things... beautiful.

Links

I have done a search today for gardening blogs and have added some interesting ones to the links list on the right.
Musings from a Stonehead: an interesting blog on maintaining a traditional lifestyle and making minimal impact on the environment. It has some very informative "musings" with good pictures and many helpful links.
Welsh Girls Allotment details a quest for an allotment, its cultivation and crops. It also plays music whilst you read!
Happy Hobby Habit is a blog by someone who simply loves to see things grow!
Alan Titchmarsh has a website which I have included simply because it contains a wealth of information and advice in friendly understandable language that even gardening novices like me can understand.

Digging

I have dug over the vegetable patch today. Didn't take that long actually - it is only small - and wasn't that hard to do. Ground was quite soft and easy to get a fork into. Must start to make plans as to what vegetables I will grow this year. I expect I could start sowing some seeds in trays in the house to get them out as soon as spring arrives: I will look in my new bible - Alan Titchmarsh's The Gardener's Year.

Flowering Hyacinths

The Hyacinths didn't flower in time for Christmas but for the New Year they were as seen above. Shame they didn't have the strength to stand upright - will have to search to see if it is a common problem!
