Rose Hip

Not from my garden but from someone's garden in West Row, the village in which my parents live...

More Carrots

Spent most of the day in the garden yesterday - it was lovely weather hre in North Wales and quite warm once I got going!

Harvested the remaining carrots and spring onions and generally tidied the garden up. Emptied the grow bags on to the vegetable patch and potted up some bulbs for the spring - daffodils and tulips. I think there are still some bulbs in the border which may come through at some point. I'm also not sure what I did with the hyacinths after they flowered - maybe they are in a pot somewhere!

I cut the lawn again. Maybe it will have been for the last time. It was quite soft under foot in places and hadn't grown much since last weekend. I strimmed around the edges as best I could - a piece from the strimmer has gone missing and makes it hard to do since the string that whizzes round is too short!

Bumble Bee

Summer may be over but this bumble bee is still feeding on the sunflowers at the bottom of the garden.

Brussel's Sprouts

The Brussel's Sprouts are looking promising. I will have to find out when they are ready to pick!

Tomatoes

The tomatoes have done well this year so far. I've four plants that are producing fruits. One of which I have already picked tomatoes from which were delicious!
Above you can see the new watering system which I brought from Ferndale Lodge. They are sold in packs of three and save you worrying everyday, dripping water into the soil on a regular basis.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes from the garden. Have had to leave them on the window sill for about a week to redden up. Can't wait to eat one - I love tomatoes!!

Rain Rain Go Away...

What is going on? It seems that we are not going to have a summer this year! My garden appears to have all gone to seed and is very overgrown and yet I am unable to get out there and weed or tidy unless I want to get absolutely soaked!

The beetroot and lettuce have all gone to seed and the onions I think need to come up to be dried off in the shed. There are weeds everywhere too. Luckily I popped out first thing this morning before the rain and mowed the lawn!

Succulent Flowers

I'm afraid this isn't really in focus - I will try and get a better picture tomorrow!

Dahlia

This beautiful Dahlia was a gift from some friends. I have yet to plant it out and the advice I was given was to plant it in the ground in the pot so as to be able to remove it it the winter to keep it warm somewhere. I will look up more about Dahlias as I know very little about them.

Tomatoes

I have green tomatoes growing which I hope will soon start to turn red. This plant has done much better that the other tomato plants I have grown this year for some reason. I think it is a different variety but unfortunately I haven't recorded anywhere what variety. I must remember to this next year as obviously some types prefer the environment in my garden and othere don't as much. This particular plant was planted outside quite early when we had all that nice weather earlier in the year - was it late March? Anyway, it looks like I might have at least five or six tomatoes this year!

Foxglove

The Foxglove is really blooming now. I will try and get some more close up pictures another day as this one is slightly out of focus.

Green Garden Fence

The painting of the garden fence has really created a different atmosphere in the garden. I am so pleased with it.
